One of the Meshes is invisible and doesnot render in Unity scene

Not sure whats going wrong here, and it'd be nice to get some help with my Unity3d scene. I've imported an fbx animated character (skinned mesh + joints) into a scene which has environment meshes. The imported character looks fine other than the torso, which is invisible, and I can't get it to render. When I select the torso object, Unity only shows me a bounding box for the mesh. Please help

I faced similar missing meshes for certain parts of my character, which I had exported (fbx) from Maya. Each of the invisible objects when selected, showed "Missing Mesh" in inspector. But when I look into project, the supposedly missing mesh can be seen in the list. I fixed this by painfully dragging each mesh into the appropriate inspector (where it says missing mesh). I completed this process for all the invisible objects and then saved the unity file. Restarted unity before continuing any further- Didnot have any trouble with that file since then. Hope it helps
